1) General
Rethink, Retail Hackathon (title freely invented) is an event powered by REWE International Dienstleistungsgesellschaft m.b.H IZ NÖ-Süd, Straße 3, Objekt 16, A - 2355 Wiener Neudorf (hereinafter REWE International), which will take place from 04.06. - 05.06.2024 at the Social Hub, Nordbahnstraße 47, 1020 Vienna with a minimum and maximum number of participants defined per event.
2) Application and participation
a) People are given the opportunity to participate by taking note of advertising in newsletters, websites (www.wearedevelopers.com) and social media.
b) The application for participation in the hackathon takes place online on the
landing page. If the LINK provided is incorrect or invalid, REWE International is not obliged to search for correct addresses. Any disadvantages resulting from the provision of an incorrect LINK shall be borne by the participants.
c) Within the REWE International, REWE employees will be informed of the opportunity to participate and the link to the application via the IT Changeflash.
d) The application deadline is announced on the website. Receipt of the application will be confirmed by e-mail to the e-mail address provided.
e) The number of participants is limited to a total of 75 people. Participation is only permitted in teams. Participation in the hackathon is on a first come, first served basis. This means that places will be allocated according to the order of registration. Teams can consist of 4-6 people.
f) If the team size of 4-6 people is not reached due to last-minute cancellations on the day of the event, REWE International reserves the right to divide the team members into other teams.
g) If the maximum number of participants is not reached, the remaining places can be allocated at short notice.
h) The participants acknowledge that only complete registrations can be considered.
i) Participants are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide.
j) If the participant is unable to attend on the day of the event, he/she shall be entitled to nominate a substitute to attend the event in his/her place and on his/her behalf. The original participant must ensure that the substitute person receives and acknowledges the present conditions of participation in advance.
3) Participation of internal REWE Group Austria employees
a) The time estimated for the event as well as arrival and departure can be entered as a seminar in the recording of the working time. The official start and end times of the event are as follows:
o 04.06. from 08:30 until 18:00
o 05.06. from 08:30 until 18:00
Any additional time participated is voluntary.b) The prize money (vouchers or prize money) is taxed via payroll accounting and is shown on the payslip.
4) Events
a) Participants must arrive at the venue at 08:30 am.
b) The IT equipment for the hackathon is based on the "bring your own device" (BYOD) principle: participants must bring their own hardware and software. Both commercial and freely available software is permitted, whereby participants must ensure that they have the appropriate licenses. The organizers will provide free Wi-Fi, Google Cloud Platform projects, Google Cloud Services for AI and Machine Learning as well as workshop materials. For the optional use of Google Cloud Services, participants must ensure that they have their own Google users.
c) The language of the hackathon is English.
d) Instructions from the hackathon staff must be strictly adhered to in order to avoid risks. Participation in the hackathon is free of charge, including catering (non-alcoholic drinks and food). Travel to and from the event and any costs for accommodation are to be borne by the participants themselves.
e) At the end of the hackathon, the participants will present their results to the jury, which consists of IT-savvy people and challenge donors from REWE International. The jury will decide on the winning team of the hackathon based on the criteria announced at the beginning of the hackathon and listed in the appendix (e.g. feasibility, business value, usability, innovation, quality of proof of concepts & sustainability). The prizes must be accepted on site, otherwise they will be forfeited. Cash redemption or exchange of a prize is not possible.
f) The following prizes will be awarded to teams. These prizes are one-off per team and will be paid out half in REWE vouchers and half in cash:
1st place: € 5,000 and tickets for all team members for the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024 in Berlin worth € 699/ticket
2nd place: € 3,000 and tickets for all team members for the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024 in Berlin worth € 699/ticket
3rd place: € 1,000 and tickets for all team members for the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024 in Berlin worth € 699/ticket
€ 1,000 as a sustainability prize
g) Travel to and from the WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin and any costs for accommodation are to be borne by the participants themselves.
h) REWE International reserves the right to interrupt or terminate the hackathon for good cause at any time without prior notice (and prize distribution) or to exclude individual participants from participation. Important reasons are in particular reasons that would disrupt or prevent the hackathon from running as planned. This also includes an attempt by participants to use unauthorized aids or otherwise gain advantages through manipulation, as well as a violation of criminal law, common decency or these conditions of participation. Illegal content must be removed immediately or will be removed immediately. In such cases, prizes may also be subsequently revoked and reclaimed.
5) Deregistration from the event
a) Cancellations can be made in writing to rethink-retail@rewe-group.at by 28.05.2024
b) In the event of cancellation, REWE employees are obliged to perform their work as usual, unless there are special reasons for absence (e.g. sick leave, vacation).6) Rights The copyrights of the intellectual property created during the hackathon remain with the participants. In order that the results can also be used by the challenge sponsor, the participant, as the respective owner grants the organizer free of charge a worldwide, unlimited, transferable, sublicensable and irrevocable right of use to all known and unknown types of use of copyrights arising in the context of the hackathon as well as any trademarks, patents and other intellectual property rights.
7) House rules
Smoking is prohibited on the premises. Alcohol is only served to persons who have reached the age of 18. The house rules (https://www.thesocialhub.co/

8) Hygiene
a) The participant undertakes to report any allergies, health restrictions, illnesses, etc. that could endanger him/her and/or other participants in the event in writing when registering for the event.
b) It is the sole responsibility of the participants to carefully read and check the ingredients and product descriptions of the products before use/application, in particular to avoid allergic reactions.
9) Recordings in connection with the event, rights to your own image
a) The participant is aware that the recordings made during the event (e.g. pictures, videos or other media) may be published as part of the reporting on the event.
b) The participant grants REWE International (and its affiliated companies BILLA, PENNY, BIPA and ADEG) the non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free, temporally and geographically unrestricted right to use, reproduce and/or edit the recordings for reporting in the internal and external media of REWE International (and its affiliated companies BILLA, PENNY, BIPA and ADEG) and cooperation partner WeAreDevelopers for this purpose.
10) Data protection
The participant agrees that his/her personal data may be stored and processed by REWE International for the purpose of organizing this event. The data will not be passed on unless this is necessary for the organization of the event. This consent can be revoked at any time in writing by sending a message to datenschutz@rewe-group.at. The data will be deleted 30 days after the end of the event.
11) Liability
a) REWE International shall only be liable for damage suffered by participants in the event of gross negligence or intent, unless the damage is due to injury to life, body or health.
b) REWE International assumes no liability for the topicality, completeness or quality of the information provided on its website and in the invitation. Liability claims against REWE International relating to material or immaterial damage caused by the use or non-use of the information provided here, or by the use of incorrect or incomplete information, are excluded, unless there is evidence of willful intent or gross negligence on the part of REWEInternational. Furthermore, REWE International is not liable for lost registrations, confirmations or returns.
c) REWE International assumes no liability for the wardrobe, valuables, hardware and software at the event.
12) Miscellaneous
a) There is no legal recourse for participation in the event.
b) The event is subject to Austrian law to the exclusion of the conflict of law rules. There is no enforceable claim to participation in an event.
c) The participant acknowledges that the photos serve only as examples.
