WeAreDevelopers brings Steve Wozniak to Europe’s largest developer conference in Vienna

The WeAreDevelopers World Congress, the largest conference for developers in Europe is set to take place in the Austria Center in Vienna next May. Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and a distinguished computer pioneer has confirmed his talk at the event.

Vienna - This year, the European developers’ scene joined the WeAreDevelopers Conference with 4,000 attendees arriving from all around the globe. The speakers line-up of the event read like the Who’s Who of international tech: John Romero (id Software), Joel Spolsky (Stack Overflow, Trello), Preethi Kasireddy (Sapien), Håkon Wium Lie (CSS Erfinder), Rasmus Lerdorf (inventor of PHP), Felix Krause (Google) and many more, both international and local speakers, have filled a busy two-days program.

The co-founders of WeAreDevelopers - Sead Ahmetovic, Benjamin Ruschin and Thomas Pamminger, have great expectations for 2018, with 8,000 to 10,000 attendees arriving in Vienna, and speakers such as Steve Wozniak to take the stage.

Mr Wozniak, also known as the “The Woz”, is one of the three founders of Apple Inc., one of the largest tech companies on the planet, and he is one of the fathers of the personal computer.

Sead Ahmetovic, co-founder of WeAreDevelopers: “The attendance of individuals like Steve Wozniak proves the relevance of the WeAreDevelopers World Congress and shows that WeAreDevelopers has grown to be an international brand."

“WeAreDevelopers strengthens the economical importance of Austria and is placing Vienna on the map as a tech hub.” Benjamin Ruschin, co-founder of WeAreDevelopers adds.

Due to his fantastic experience in the year’s event, John Romero (Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein 3D) will come back in 2018 as well - accompanied by his rockstar of a wife, Brenda. Many other big names are expected to arrive in Vienna, among them Renaud Visage (Co-Founder Eventbrite), Angie Jones (Twitter), Feross Aboukhadijeh (Webtorrent), Nick Shadrin (Nginx) and Jina Anne (Amazon), all of which have already confirmed their participation.

Thomas Pamminger, co-founder of WeAreDevelopers, closes with a hint at the recently opened call for speakers: ”All developers on this planet are invited to hand in their talks and share their know-how with other developers at this conference.”

WeAreDevelopers joined the European Union’s Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition beginning of December with the hope to increase the diversity of the program even more. At the moment 60% of the speaker lineup consists of women.

WeAreDevelopers World Congress will take place from 16th to 18th of May 2018 in Vienna - 3 days, more than 8,000 developers and 10 tracks. Tickets are still available at early bird prices of €299 (later €799).
