Job description

Data Architect | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £600-£750/day | Hybrid (London) I’m currently recruiting for a contract Data Architect to play a key role in defining and delivering the organisation’s future data strategy and architecture across a large transformation programme. This position is focused on data architecture, data modelling, governance and solution design rather than hands-on engineering. You’ll work across the wider business to understand the current data landscape, define the target-state architecture, and support the delivery of scalable, well-governed data solutions. A significant priority for the business is the development and maturity of its Product Data Domain, which underpins several large-scale transformation projects. As a result, we’re looking for someone with strong experience in Master Data Management (MDM), including defining master data models, establishing data ownership and stewardship processes, implementing golden record strategies, and driving improvements in data quality and governance across the organisation. You’ll also help shape the organisation’s reporting and analytics capabilities through the design of Gold Layer and Semantic Models, supporting executive reporting, financial reporting, enterprise KPIs, dimensional modelling, and star-schema based data structures. The organisation is currently progressing a strategic migration from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric, making experience with modern Microsoft data platforms highly desirable. Exposure to Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, OneLake, Power BI Semantic Models and Fabric Governance will be particularly valuable. Experience with Databricks and Data Lake would be beneficial but is not essential.

Requirements

  • Strong Data Architecture and Solution Design experience
  • Data Mastering tools
  • Master Data Management (MDM) and Golden Record strategies
  • Data Modelling (Conceptual, Logical & Physical)
  • Data Domains, Governance and Data Quality
  • Data Lineage, Source-to-Target Mapping and Transformation Design
  • Data Cataloguing tools such as Microsoft Purview
  • Gold Layer, Semantic Modelling, Dimensional Modelling and Star Schemas
  • Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric (Fabric Desirable)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business-facing communication skills
