Job description

We are seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the development, integration, and security of next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer with a strong cybersecurity foundation who is passionate about securing AI systems throughout their lifecycle.

The successful candidate will work alongside senior engineers to develop, integrate, and harden AI-enabled capabilities supporting government and commercial customers. Responsibilities include securing AI infrastructure, implementing cybersecurity best practices, automating security controls, and assisting with the development of resilient AI environments spanning on-premises, cloud, and hybrid architectures.

This position emphasizes engineering over operations, with opportunities to contribute to research and development efforts involving AI systems, containerized applications, infrastructure automation, and secure software development.

Duties:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and security hardening of AI and machine learning environments.
  • Develop and maintain secure containerized environments using Docker and related technologies.
  • Implement cybersecurity controls across AI development pipelines following DevSecOps principles.
  • Support the engineering of secure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
  • Develop automation scripts to improve deployment, security validation, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with vulnerability assessments, system hardening, and remediation activities.
  • Support implementation of Zero Trust and least-privilege security principles.
  • Perform security testing and validation of AI applications and supporting infrastructure.
  • Participate in threat modeling and security architecture reviews for AI-enabled systems.
  • Assist with detection engineering, security monitoring, and log analysis to validate defensive controls.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering artifacts, and security procedures.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity engineers, and program teams throughout the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of professional cybersecurity or systems engineering experience (internships and significant personal projects considered).
  • Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, and secure system design.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Docker or other container technologies.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks and secure engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • One or more industry certifications such as Security+, CySA+, SSCP, GSEC, Linux+, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Travel: 15 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Education Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Assurance, or related technical field.

Desired Skills :

  • Experience deploying or securing AI/LLM environments.
  • Experience securing agentic AI frameworks, local inference platforms, or Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) environments.
  • Familiarity with AI security concepts including prompt injection, model abuse, data poisoning, model supply chain risks, and secure model deployment.
  • Experience implementing policy-as-code or security guardrails using technologies such as Open Policy Agent (OPA).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Experience deploying or administering cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms.
  • Experience with SIEM technologies such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, or Wazuh.
  • Experience with detection engineering, threat hunting, or MITRE ATT&CK mapping.
  • Knowledge of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), or MITRE ATLAS.
  • Experience contributing to GitHub or open-source security or AI projects.
  • Active or previously held DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
