Job description
Total Network Designs is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) supporting multiple business clients across different industries. We are seeking an IT Support Specialist with real-world troubleshooting experience in business environments.
This is not an entry-level or call-center role. The ideal candidate is someone who can independently diagnose and resolve issues, understands how business networks function, and is comfortable supporting multiple client environments.
Candidates whose experience consists mainly of following step-by-step instructions without hands-on troubleshooting will not be a good fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting multiple business clients (remote and onsite)
- Troubleshooting issues that are not already documented
- Resolving Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, VPN, and printer issues
- Setting up and migrating users, computers, and permissions
- Communicating directly with end users, managers, and business owners
- Documenting work clearly so another technician understands what was done and why
- Coordinating with senior technicians on complex issues and projects
Core Responsibilities
- Provide remote and onsite IT support for desktops, servers, and networks
- Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, printers, VPNs, and business applications
- Diagnose network issues involving DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, and switching
- Configure users, mailboxes, licenses, MFA, and permissions in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
- Install, replace, and configure computers, network gear, and peripherals
- Maintain accurate ticket documentation and time entries
- Monitor and respond to alerts related to backups, antivirus, and patching
- Escalate issues appropriately after performing proper troubleshooting
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on IT support experience (MSP or multi-client environment strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot independently (not scripted or checklist-only roles)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Windows 10/11 and basic Windows Server concepts
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs)
- Microsoft 365 administration (users, mailboxes, MFA, licensing)
- Experience supporting multiple customers or departments, not a single internal IT environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tickets and shifting priorities
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Prior MSP experience
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and RMM tools
- Experience with firewalls, managed switches, or Ubiquiti equipment
- Exposure to backup, security, or monitoring platforms, * hands-on IT support: 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Driver’s license (Required)
