Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Specialized Java Developer to join a leading telecommunications client supporting a large-scale cloud modernization initiative. This developer will be responsible for building and delivering production-grade transactional microservices on AWS using Java 17, Spring Boot, ECS, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS FIFO, EventBridge, and Kafka (MSK). The role will focus on replacing legacy on-premises middleware with a modern cloud-native architecture that processes approximately 4 million events per day. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Java microservices, AWS, SQL optimization, and event-driven systems, and is comfortable developing scalable, high-performance applications, implementing automated testing, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Terraform, DocumentDB/MongoDB, containerized workflows, and resilient system design is a plus.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on Java development experience.

  • Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
  • Proven experience developing applications in AWS, including ECS, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in transactions, locking, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks using JUnit 5.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.

Benefits & conditions

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
