WeAreDevelopers GmbH, seated in Vienna, Austria, (hereinafter referred to as “WeAreDevelopers”, “we”, “us” “our”) provides you with various services (see below) and operates the website wearedevelopers.com and its subdomains (collectively the “Website”).

Services we offer to you include the usage of our Website, the participation in events, the consumption of text, video and audio content, the usage of our job board, the usage of our recruiting service, the participation in various activities organized by us, the provision of consultancy and support for various matters related to our services or our company, or any other services we may perform based on your request (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Services”).

Your privacy and the protection of your personal data is important to us. Therefore we want to explain what data we collect when you use our Services, how we use that data and what rights you have in relation to it.

What data do we collect?

How and how long do we store your Personal Data?

We undertake all reasonable technical and organizational measures to securely store your Personal Data. However, due to the nature of technology and the internet, it is not possible to guarantee absolute security despite all technical measures. Therefore, we are not liable for any actions of third parties.

Your Personal Data is retained as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and no longer than 1 month after the termination of our contract with you. Some data may be retained for longer periods in order to fulfill our regulatory and legal obligations (such as accounting, tax, or similar legal regulations).

As soon as we have no legitimate reasons to retain your data anymore, we will delete your Personal Data or in certain reasonable cases anonymize it. When we keep backups of data, we will do it in a way that the backed up Personal Data is isolated from any further usage or processing until a complete deletion is possible.

Do we share your Personal Data with third parties?

We only share your Personal Data with third parties with your explicit consent, when it is necessary to fulfill our contract with you, or when we are enforced by law to do so.

In order to perform our contractual obligations with you, we may transmit your Personal Data to third parties depending on the Service you use and when it is necessary due to the nature of the respective service.

Group companies: We may share your information with our group companies (subsidiaries or parent companies) in order to perform our Services and provide you with the products, services and tools you have requested.

Third-party services providers, suppliers, vendors: We use and subcontract third party service providers, suppliers, vendors or similar entities to perform services on our behalf. Where necessary, we may share data with such third parties in order to be able to facilitate, operate, maintain and secure our own Services. Business partners or other users of our Services: Your data may be shared with other users of our Services where this is needed in order to perform the service you requested us for or when it is in the nature of the respective service. For example, if you are a developer and you apply to a job on our job board or through our recruiting service, then your Personal Data (only the parts which are necessary for a job application) together with your application documents will be shared with the company or organization you have applied to. If you are a representative of a company (for example a HR Manager), your Personal Data (such as your name, email address and contact information) will be visible for the applicants to the jobs of your company in order to connect them with you. Further, when you register for a workshop, we may, with your consent, share your Personal Data with the provider of the workshop in order to facilitate the workshop in a proper way. Also, when you publicly post comments or participate in Q&A sessions, some data (such as your name) will be visible to other users or the public. 

As described, we only share your Personal Data (or parts of it), with your consent, based on the activities and actions you set when you use our Services, based on legitimate interests and in order to perform the services you have asked us for.

If we transmit Personal Data outside of the European Economic Area, we do so only to countries for which the EU commission has declared that these countries have an appropriate level of data protection, other adequate measures exist (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) or you have given us consent to do so.

What are cookies and how do we use them?

Analytics, Social Media Plugins, Social Media Logins, Retargeting

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google LLC., in order to analyze the usage of the Website and compile reports on the Website activities. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us to analyze how visitors use our Website. The information generated by the cookies about your usage of our Website is usually transmitted to a server of Google in the USA and saved there. We have activated IP anonymization in Google Analytics, which means that the IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within Member States of the European Union and in other states of the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a server of Google in the US and saved there. Emlen: For the presentation, collection and exchange of content in a digital dealroom, we use the application emlen, of emlen GmbH, Dudweilerstraße 71, 66111 Saarbrücken. We involve emlen GmbH with regard to the processing of your personal data as a so-called order processor and oblige them to comply with the applicable data protection provisions by means of a sufficient order processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 DSGVO. Therefore, emlen GmbH processes your personal data for us and on our behalf. For more details about the emlen GmbH application and data protection issues in this regard, please refer to the emlen GmbH data protection declaration at https://www.emlen.io/emlen-datenschutz. emlen GmbH may use subcontractors for the provision of its services, but these subcontractors are also subject to a sufficient obligation under data protection law by means of an order processing agreement and, if the data processing takes place in a third country outside the EU/EEA (e.g. USA), the lawfulness of the processing of personal data is established by means of so-called EU standard contractual clauses.

Clearbit: Clearbit combines numerous public and private data sources (including company websites, legal filings, social presence) to provide business intelligence. Clearbit only processes B2B data for your use within a business context, regardless of where an individual is based, across all of our solutions. This usually includes things like their job role and details about their employing company. This means that Clearbit does not provide or collect consumer data, which includes, but is not limited to, things like age, health, web browsing history, health records, or economic status. Social Media Plugins: We may use social media plugins on specific pages on our Website in order to enable you to use certain social media features (such as sharing or commenting content, engaging with content or displaying content). When you visit a page on our Website which includes such a social media plugin, your browser will establish a connection to the server of the respective social media provider. The social media provider will gain knowledge that you have accessed the corresponding page on our Website. This information, together with your IP address, will be transmitted directly to a server operated by the respective social media provider (which, for social media providers from the US, may be a server in the USA). Social media providers we may use on our Website include Facebook Inc., Linkedin Inc./Linkedin Corporation, Twitter Inc., GitHub Inc., Google LLC, YouTube LLC, Vimeo Inc., or their respective group companies. Do we offer our Services to minors?

We don’t address anyone under the age of 18 with our Services.
